Integrated Water Resources Management - Karlsruhe 2010

Prof. SteusloffIntegrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) is a powerful tool for optimized allocation of - scarce - water resources to the existing or anticipated water demand by quantity and quality. Integrated, in this context, means that all types of water, be it rain water, surface and ground water, or even wastewater, are taken into consideration, as well as all types of water consumption, whether by agriculture, industry or for domestic use. Other factors that are taken into consideration are evapotranspiration as well as other losses, relative to the area under consideration.
IWRM is thus a necessary addition for planning and operating systems for water collection, water treatment, water distribution and water use. Due to this fundamental importance of IWRM, the Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress-GmbH and the Fraunhofer IOSB are organizing
IWRM Karlsruhe 2010 as a stand-alone event focusing on this topic.
The experts confirm this view of the importance of IWRM: By the submission deadline, over 155 abstracts had been submitted, all of which were of high quality and 40% of which came from abroad. It will therefore be possible to cover a broad range of IWRM-related topics. In addition to this, there will also be a generous amount of time dedicated to poster presentation and there are several keynote lectures on the technological, economic and social aspects of IWRM planned.
There will also be an exhibition held in parallel to the convention to present IWRM solutions and components. Several large companies and SMEs have already confirmed that they will be exhibiting at the accompanying exhibition. The exhibitors will also have the opportunity to present their products and services during a dedicated session at
the conference.
During the evening session on 24th November 2010, the Europäische Brunnengesellschaft will award its honorary prize to a famous personality. The response to the call for papers and the very broad range of marketing activities certainly reach the experts.
Come to Karlsruhe in November2010 - we look forward to seeing you!
